There’s been some controversy about whether Kanye West would be worried if girlfriend Kim Kardashian decides to undergo a tummy tuck after the upcoming birth of their daughter.
While this may be only a rumor, it’s understandable that Kanye would be leery of the procedure–his mother died from complications of a tummy tuck and breast lift procedure in 2007.
Kanye West’s 58-year-old mother, Donda, went in for plastic surgery with Dr. Andre Aboolian, who claims he told Donda to get medical clearance for the procedures, but she may not have followed through.
Whether this is true or not, she went into cardiac arrest at home after the surgery, and was unresponsive at the hospital, where she died. While this event was a tragedy, it is not at all typical of tummy tuck surgery.
There are many safety-related precautions that should always be taken, such as selecting the right surgeon and confirming candidacy.
A tummy tuck is major surgery, and it’s important to follow all pre- and post-op tummy tuck instructions to ensure you do not experience complications during or after surgery, such as infection or poor healing.
Always be honest with your healthcare provider–you don’t want to risk your health by stretching the truth.
It can be difficult when your loved ones don’t want you to undergo a procedure you feel will boost your confidence and self-image. Though you have a right to make your own decisions, it’s important to acknowledge family members’ concerns and reassure them that you’ve done your research and haven’t made the decision lightly. Don’t brush off their concerns–your family is simply worried about your health and welfare.
